Tonight is the first night of our new Summer Saturday Stargazing for the 2015 summer season. Though tonight's forecast is quite variable, we can likely expect partly cloudy skies with fog moving in around 11:00 p.m. Though this forecast does not sound excellent, Venus, Jupiter, the 91% waxing gibbous Moon, and Saturn should be quite visible. Additionally, the International Space Station will be returning to the evening skies over New England tonight, starting with two visible passes during our viewing session. Check out pass times and positions for Southern New England.

We plan to open the Observatory and Sky Theatre at 8:30 p.m. In the Observatory, telescopes will begin with Venus, Jupiter, and the bright gibbous Moon. After 9:30 p.m. we will attempt a view at Saturn, which is in an excellent viewing position and set to mesmerize all. The Sky Theatre will have a slideshow of astrophotos shot at Frosty Drew Observatory on display. We plan to stay on site until 11:00 p.m. unless Southern New England fog has different plans.

Overall, tonight's forecast is quite variable with some sources forecasting excellent conditions. Twilight views will quite likely be available and an OK night looks to be in store for us. Check in with our Twitter (@FrostyDrewOBSY) or Facebook for updates from the observatory. Then come out to Frosty Drew and sneak a peek at the Galilean Moons of Jupiter, the 53% phase of Venus, and the stunning rings of Saturn.
