Tonight's forecast is calling for clear skies for the entire night. The 13% waning gibbous Moon will not rise until 2:42 a.m. keeping skies super dark. The combination of clear skies and no Moon until near pre-dawn are setting us up for an amazing night under the stars! Last night at Frosty Drew the Milky Way was strikingly bright stretching across the sky, and tonight, we can expect an even better view. This is the night to be out!

We plan to open the Observatory and Sky Theatre at 8:30 p.m. tonight. In the Observatory, telescopes will showcase Venus which is sporting a 25% crescent phase, followed by Saturn and its stunning rings. Once twilight comes to a close, we will direct our telescopes towards the fabulously bright Milky Way loaded with star clusters and nebulae. In the Sky Theatre we will feature a showcase of astrophotos shot at Frosty Drew Observatory.

Tonight will certainly be an awesome night for all who come out. With no Moon and clear skies the starscape will be mesmerizing to say the least. The Alpha Capricornid meteor shower is just getting under way and will add frequent shooting stars to our already amazing starscape. If forecasts hold, tonight will easily be the best night of the summer yet! So add Frosty Drew Observatory to your Saturday night list of things to do and revel in some of the darkest skies in Southern New England.
