After months of poor atmospheric conditions over New England, atmosphere stabilized nicely for about 2 hours on Saturday, June 19, 2016 allowing for this killer shot of Saturn. We attempt a shot of Saturn every year around opposition, which happened on June 3, 2016. The idea is to showcase changes in Saturn's axial tilt every year. Since Saturn takes 30 Earth-years to orbit the Sun, has an axial tilt of 26.7° and has rings over the equatorial region, we can see the rings become more apparent as we approach the solstices on Saturn. Summer Solstice on Saturn happens in May 2017. Saturn is currently on display weekly at Frosty Drew during the spring and summer season. -Scott
