Today is New Year’s Eve and what better way to kick off your 2019 welcoming festivities than a night out under the stars. Sadly, forecasts have different plans, which are calling for heavy rain and wind to move into our region later this evening. Unfortunately, the weather will keep our telescopes closed tonight. Thankfully, the Town of Charlestown’s annual New Year’s Eve bonfire in Ninigret Park, which starts at 4:30 p.m., is more resilient and will continue as planned. Though rained out at Frosty Drew Observatory tonight, the annual Quadrantid Meteor Shower peak is happening this Thursday, January 3, 2019 and the observatory will be open from 8:00 pm – 1:00 am to observe the shower.

We hope you have a fabulous night tonight closing out the 2018 year, and are wishing you a happy New Year from all the astro-geeks at Frosty Drew Observatory.
