Venus at 0.1% Waning Crescent
This is Venus at less than two days before Inferior Conjunction, which is when Venus orbits in between Earth and the Sun. In this image, Venus' crescent is illuminated by 0.1%. Most of what is visible is Venus' intense atmosphere being illuminated by direct sunlight on the opposite side that we see. Note the atmospheric ring around Venus.
