JWST's Mirror Segments are Nearly Aligned
In this image released on February 25, 2022, all 18 mirror segments that make up the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) primary mirror are aligned in a manner that the subject of each segments view is centered in the image and overlapping each other, creating an image of a star with 18 copies stacked on top of each other. The next step will to align the mirrors in a fashion where all segments will work together as one large mirror to produce one, highly detailed, image of the star. Credit: NASA/STScI
