22º Lunar Halo over Frosty Drew Observatory
During the autumn - spring months, the colder temps and increased moisture in the stratosphere make for fantastic opportunities to spot the 22º lunar halo. Caused by hexagonal ice crystals that form in the stratosphere. Light will refract twice when passing through the hexagon causing a 22º ring to form around the Moon (and the Sun).
