Messier 2 - The Aquarius Cluster

Messier 2 (M2) is a fabulous globular star cluster residing in the constellation Aquarius. At a distance of 37,500 light years, M2 is found in the halo region of the Milky Way galaxy. The cluster is rather large, measuring about 175 light years in diameter and containing upwards of 150,000 stars. It is also one of the few elliptical globular clusters in the Milky Way. Check out Messier 2 at Frosty Drew Observatory during the late summer and autumn months.
