Barnard's Loop

Barnard's Loop

Barnard's Loop is a large arc of ionized hydrogen that surrounds most of the constellation Orion. It is part of the larger Orion Molecular Cloud Complex and is thought to be the remnant of a supernova that occurred in the constellation Orion. In this image, numerous objects that reside in the Orion Molecular Cloud Complex are visible including the Orion Nebula, NGC 1977 nebula, the Horsehead Nebula, the Flame Nebula, Orion's belt, and more.

This image was captured at Frosty Drew Observatory by James Crouch during December 2019 and January 2020.
