Mars Nears 2020 Opposition
On September 5, 2020 I captured this photo of Mars as we closed in on the opposition period. In this view several surface features are visible including Gale Crater, Mare Cimmerium, Elysium Planitia, Elysium Mons, and the southern polar ice cap. Opposition happened on October 13, 2020 with closest approach on October 6, 2020.
