The Solar Corona

The Solar Corona
Frosty Drew Astronomy Team member, Sean Perkins, captured this stunning view of the solar corona during maximum eclipse. Sean was set up in St. ALbans, VT and had mostly clear sky conditions. In this image notice the magnetic field lines of the Sun visible in the corona. There is also a stunning prominence that became visible during the total eclipse period. The fainter parts of the outer corona are obscured by thin cloud cover that Sean experienced.
