John Weaver is a Connecticut native currently studying Astrophysics at the University of St Andrews in Scotland. There he is the Director of Observing for the student astronomical society, AstroSoc, as well as the Academic Organiser for the student physical society, QuantumSoc. While at Frosty Drew he assists Director Scott MacNeill on the grounds discussing astronomy, operating telescopes, and sharing the night sky with guests. He was professionally trained in night sky observing while at the Treworgy Planetarium at Mystic Seaport. Before going abroad, John studied Astronomy at Connecticut College alongside his secondary school studies. He also maintains a blog devoted to the furthering of space sciences and scientific literacy. John plans to graduate in 2017 and progress to a doctorate in theoretical astrophysics.
