We love the night sky and everything astronomy. We are true astro-geeks and you can be one too! We believe that it is our job to enlighten, discover, inspire - through education and research - knowledge about science, the night sky, and the universe. That is literally our mission! Humanity’s youngest generation is the Mars Generation. It is in our children where the first humans to visit another planet are living right now. They do not know it is them, and they will be the heroes of tomorrow. We want to know those individuals. We want to inspire them to reach for the sky! The possibilities are there and they are available for anyone who truly wants them.
Every Friday night we open our Observatory, Science Center, Sky Theatre and telescopes to the public for our free Stargazing Nights event. We usually open around 7:00 pm during the months surrounding the winter solstice and shortly after dusk during the months surrounding the summer solstice. Every Friday we publish our Celebration of Space weekly newsletter to our website and mailing list that notifies readers of celestial events happening over the next week. We also open for meteor showers, eclipses, and many other celestial events taking place throughout the year, including special events to see the Milky Way, bright comets, and Near Earth Asteroid passes.
Visit our 401Gives page to learn about our donation levels and how you can support the Frosty Drew Observatory and Science Center.
We are Southern New England’s gateway to the Milky Way, a sight that all should experience. If you're looking for that awesome astronomy thing to do, or just need a chance to set your inner-geek loose, then check us out and have your mind blown by the cosmos!
