The Garnet Star

The Garnet Star
The Garnet Star is a red supergiant star found in the constellation Cepheus. Residing at 6,000 light years distant, the Garnet Star has about 19.2 solar masses (1 solar mass = Sun) and shines about 100,000 times brighter than the Sun. This star is huge, coming in at #21 on the list of largest known stars. The Garnet Star gets its name due to the striking garnet red color of the star, even at naked eye visibility. -Scott
