Messier 51: The Whirlpool Galaxy
Here is an image of the Messier 51 - Whirlpool Galaxy (M51) that we captured at the end of May 2022 for the Frosty Drew Observatory Project Messier imaging project. M51 resides at 32 million light years distant and is classified as an interacting spiral galaxy. Found in the constellation Canes Venatici, M51 is visibly interacting with the nearby satellite galaxy NGC 5195.
