At 7:39 am, on November 11, 2019, Mercury entered the visible area of the Sun, this is called "first contact". Second contact happens when Mercury becomes fully inside the visible area of the Sun. Just before second contact, Mercury will appear like a black drop of space dripping into the Sun. This is called the black drop effect. This image captures that effect.
