Grazing Occultation of Aldebaran

Grazing Occultation of Aldebaran
On March 4, 2017 the Moon passed in front of the Aldebaran, the brightest star in Taurus, when viewed from specific locations across the U.S. The "graze line" is a very small geographic area of visibility where the Moon will pass along the edge of Aldebaran, allowing for views of lunar topography along the northern edge of the Moon. The graze line on March 4th passed right through the URI Kingston campus. We captured this photo of the occultation along the graze line on March 4, 2017.
