Comet C/2022 E3 ZTF

Comet C/2022 E3 ZTF

Comet C/2022 E3 ZTF reached perihelion on January 12, 2023, then made its closest approach to Earth on February 1, 2023. We captured this image of the comet on January 28, 2023, after nearly a month of clouds. In the image you can see the green coma around the nucleus with a secondary grey coma that is moving with the solar wind. The ion tail extends to the right of the field with a subtle anti-tail that has formed to the left of the nucleus. This image is 4ยบ wide with the coma measuring nearly 19 arc minutes in diameter.
