Comet 2I/Borisov an Interstellar Visitor

Comet 2I/Borisov an Interstellar Visitor
Comet 2I/Borisov was discovered on August 30, 2019 and is the second recorded interstellar visitor to the Solar System. Borisov made its closest approach to the Sun on December 8, 2019 at a distance of 2AU. The comet is travelling at a rate of near 100,000 miles per hour. At that distance and speed, the Sun will not capture the comet, so it is just passing through. Image Credit: NASA, ESA, and D. Jewitt (UCLA)
