The Perseus Double Cluster is an easily visible pair of open star clusters that are currently interacting with each other. Naked eye visible from Frost Drew Observatory, the Perseus Double Cluster is found half way between the constellations Perseus and Cassiopeia. Both clusters reside at 7,500 light years distant from Earth and are are surrounded by a huge halo of stars. The total mass of both clusters and the surrounding halo is over 20,000 solar masses. Both clusters are quite young at near 12.8 million years old.

The late autumn and winter seasons at Frosty Drew place the Perseus Double Cluster close to the zenith. This makes for excellent view opportunities!
