Lunar Occultations of Mars
This is a collection of images captured by Frosty Drew Astronomers of Lunar occultations of Mars. An occultation occurs when an object that is closer to Earth visibly overtakes an object that is further away. Since the Moon orbits Earth inclined 5.1º to the ecliptic, any object within 5º of the ecliptic becomes a target for occultation, including Mars.
