No people. Fog and dense clouds kept FDO closed tonight.

A personal thought from Les Coleman: This has been a particularly hard financial time for many of us including the Frosty Drew divisions. While we have had very good luck with our major donors including the Champlin Foundation and the Rhode Island Foundation for our capital projects (building the Sky Theater and refurbishing the Nature Center), these foundations do not fund day to day activities.

For the first time in many years the Nature Center has been unable to fill all its summer weeks. The Nature Center is not alone, similar activities in Rhode Island and Connecticut are having the same problems. With unemployment running at 12.7 percent, it is easy to understand why.

Another source of funds, the donations at the Observatory have also been limited. On nights we are open, people have been generous but on nights that the weather has been bad, this source of founds vanishes.

This makes our final source of funds all the more important. We will be mailing out solicitations for Memberships and Sky Theater Paving bricks. We almost always miss some people in these mailings and we'd like to invite you to join us. Forms can be found at www.frostydrew.org/pdfs/members.pdf and www.frostydrew.org/pdfs/brickflyer.pdf .

We know this is a tight period but if you are able to donate through either of these methods, we will be most appreciative
