Canis Major

Canis Major
The constellation Canis Major, which represents one of Orion's hunting dogs, is located for excellent viewing during the winter months over Southern New England. Sirius, which is commonly referred to as "The Dog Star" is the brightest star in Earth's nighttime sky as well as one of the closest stars to the Solar System residing at 8.6 light years distant.
